Cricket Frog  (Acris crepitans)

Cricket Frog (Acris crepitans)

The cricket frog, Acris crepitans, is a tiny, warty, non-climbing tree frog ranging from 1 to 1 and a half inches in length.  It is abundant along the marshy borders of streams and ponds.  The cricket frog is found throughout Kentucky, west of the Cumberland plateau, with scattered records in the Bluegrass region.  The call sounds like clicking rocks together. The breeding begins

in early summer and continues into the fall.
